The Big Sky Biggie

Trails, Vision and lot of Heart.

The Big Sky Biggie was born from a simple but powerful idea: create a mountain bike event that showcased the rugged beauty of Big Sky while strengthening the trail community that makes riding here possible. What started as a spark — a desire to build something meaningful in the endurance cycling world — quickly turned into a full-scale mission to bring riders together, celebrate Montana’s backcountry, and raise funds for the trails we all love.

In the early days, there was no race plan, no sponsor list, and no playbook to follow. There was just a vision, a deep connection to the local riding community, and the belief that Big Sky deserved an event that matched the scale and spirit of its terrain. The Biggie was built from the ground up — route design, branding, operations, permits, sponsorship development, volunteer coordination, partnerships with land managers, and every behind-the-scenes detail that turns an idea into a finish line moment.

From the very first year, riders felt it: the Biggie wasn’t just another race. It had grit. It had heart. It had its own unmistakable personality. Word spread quickly, and what began as a grassroots event grew into one of Montana’s premier endurance mountain bike races, drawing riders from across the country and earning a reputation for authenticity, challenge, and pure mountain stoke.

Today, the Biggie continues to evolve while staying grounded in what started it all — community. The event supports local trail organizations, fosters volunteer involvement, strengthens partnerships across Big Sky, and keeps the focus on what matters most: creating an unforgettable day in the mountains that brings people together.

SpinUp Events didn’t just produce a race; we created a movement, a culture, and a yearly gathering that now plays a meaningful role in Big Sky’s outdoor identity. The Biggie remains one of our proudest projects — a testament to what happens when vision meets persistence, and when a community rallies around something built with passion and purpose.

What We Built

The Big Sky Biggie isn’t just a race — it’s a complete event ecosystem, designed and developed from the ground up by SpinUp Events. What started as a raw idea quickly evolved into a full-scale brand, operational framework, and community-driven experience. Every piece of the Biggie’s identity, structure, and execution has SpinUp Events’ fingerprints on it.

Brand Development
We created the Biggie’s entire brand identity — name, logo, voice, tone, personality, and visual language. From punchy social media messaging to long-form storytelling, the Biggie brand has a distinct presence that riders immediately recognize and connect with. It’s bold, gritty, fun, a little irreverent, and rooted in the mountain culture of Big Sky.

Race Structure & Course Design
SpinUp Events developed the event architecture from scratch, including race distances, route design, course flow, safety planning, land management coordination, timing integration, and participant logistics. Each distance was intentionally crafted to showcase the terrain while balancing challenge, rider experience, and operational feasibility.

Event Operations & Infrastructure
We built the entire operational framework: permitting, volunteer systems, race-day schedules, aid station plans, communications, risk management, and emergency protocols. Over time, this framework evolved into a streamlined, repeatable system that delivers a smooth race experience year after year.

Sponsor & Partner Ecosystem
SpinUp Events cultivated a strong sponsorship program, developing tiered offerings, custom benefits, outreach strategies, and long-term partnerships. These relationships not only fuel the Biggie’s financial sustainability but also deepen its connection to the Big Sky community.

Marketing, Media & Rider Engagement
From content strategy and email campaigns to social media storytelling, photography direction, and website buildout, we created all outward-facing communications. The result: a loyal rider base, national visibility, and a race known for its authentic, magnetic personality.

Community Impact & Trail Support
Central to the Biggie’s mission is giving back. SpinUp Events established the systems that allow the event to raise funds for local trails, support community organizations, and contribute to the stewardship of Big Sky’s outdoor spaces. This commitment to reinvestment remains one of the Biggie’s defining features.
